“They've always known you would come. Do you know why you have?"
-The Keeper upon first meeting Abe
The Keeper is an old Mudokon prophet and one of the very few female members of the species. She lives in the sanctum of Necrum, where she along with the souls of countless other deceased keepers are tasked with preserving the true history of the Mudokon race. She aids Abe in his quest by giving him the Necrum branding, while revealing to him the true extent of the Glukkons' crimes against his Mudokon ancestors.
Physical Appearance[]
The Keeper is an elderly mudokon of very advanced age, with a pale complexion, short stature, and cataracts in both of her eyes, rendering her blind. Her feathers are long and grey, and are tied back into a long ponytail with multiple leather straps. She is dressed in an ornate loincloth and headdress with a top made up of bandages. She wears an amulet around her neck with sigil in the center representing a bee. Similarly, her skin is branded with various tattoos that appear to be themed off of bees, consisting mostly of hexagonal honeycomb-like patterns, with one on her forehead bearing a bee sigil in the centre identical to the one on her amulet. She also has red dots tattooed into her upper eyelids and lips, which are arranged to resemble suture scars.
Oddworld: Soulstorm[]
The Keeper first appears when Abe arrives in the catacombs of Necrum, observing Abe from a distance, and suddenly appearing in front of him. She slowly approached Abe and initially grasped him by the throat, slightly pushing away one of Abe's stitches and sniffing him until she heard the amber creature hanging off of Abe's neck, before giving Abe the Necrum branding after revealing the true extent of the Glukkons' crimes against the Mudokons. She appears after and consoles Abe, before picking him up and carrying him away.
Personality[]
Being a Mudokon, whose inner emotions are reflected in their skin tone, the Keeper is blind, and her skin tone represents that, being light grey in colour. As a Keeper, she is tasked with preserving the true history of the Mudokons, and initially comes off as indifferent, initially walking away after meeting Abe, but becomes involved in Abe's quest by leading him to receive the Necrum Branding, quietly asking him to forgive her while he was learning the truth and having the Branding burned into his chest. After Abe received the branding and had the truth revealed to him, she consoled the young Mudokon as he was sobbing, gently brushing her palm on his head before picking him up and carrying him away; commenting that the truth must have been terrible for his heart to bear, as she sorrowfully reminded Abe of what would happen if he failed in his mission.
