Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

This page is about SoulStorm Brewery the company. For the last level of Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, see SoulStorm Brewery (level).

SoulStorm Brewery is a large factory in eastern Mudos, owned and operated by the Magog Cartel. The factory is the main production and bottling plant for SoulStorm Brew. SoulStorm Brewery appears in Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus and its reimagining Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Oddworld: Soulstorm[]

Soulstorm Brewery was set up by the Brewmaster in collaboration with Vykker's Labs and Necrum Mines. After perfecting the formula for Soulstorm Brew, the Brewmaster started development on the mixing machine that would create Brew on a large enough scale for all of Mudos. With Necrum Mines supplying the bones needed and other ingredient shipped from FeeCo, the only resource harvested on site are Mudokon tears. Soulstorm Brewery is mainly made of tanks that prepare the ingredients for the mixing process, but in a few of the tanks Tear X-tractors are placed to harvest the tears needed. Trying to deactivate the Tear X-tractors will trigger immediate security, forcing the Mudokons to continue to operate the X-tractors on the pain of immediate reprisal.

The central chamber of Soulstorm Brewery contains an enormous mixing machine, using five giants pumps to supply the ingredients. In order to service and maintain thid machine, scaffolding surrounds all corners of the mixer, with platforms either being grafted onto the side of the mixer or being hung from the ceiling. The machine generates so much heat that much of it needs to be discharged in beams of radiation from the Eye. Within the "face" of the mixer is a central control room where a single work wheel resides. Turning the wheel four times will allow new ingredients to be mixed. This has the potential to sabotage the labour of the entire continent, so each turn of the work wheel will activate traps to ensure the new ingredients are authorized. A low-quality screen is placed in the room, constantly displaying footage of the Brewmaster's face, with an accompanying speaker allowing him to bark commands down to the control room.

Due to the essential role of Soulstorm Brew in the productivity of Mudokon labor, every factory on Mudos is connected via pipelines. Brew is bottled at the factories, and then sold to Mudokon labourers at relatively low prices to keep them drinking it. The facilities also give Mudokons rewards for giving the bottles back, as Brew bottles are rarely shipped out, so the Glukkons want to keep their supply.

Good Ending[]

In the Good Ending of Oddworld: Soulstorm, Abe is able to use the Shrykull's power to break into Soulstorm Brewery. In order to get the train and ingredient through to the Brewing Chambers, he fights his way through several tanks in order to reach the manual override for each gate. Within the tanks, Abe witnesses how Tear X-Tractors are used to harvest Mudokon tears, liberating each X-Tractor set he finds. Once in the main chamber, the loader carts full of antidote ingredients are hooked up to a 'taster' machine which analyses the ingredients. After overriding the standard process to allow the replacement materials to be accepted, he then moves onto overriding the locks on the mixing machine itself, turning the brew into an antidote.

The Brewmster was aware of what was happening in his Brewery, but refused to believe it. Instead of assuming the Mudokons themselves were rebelling, he believed that Molluck was using them as an army to sabotage the Brew to back up the claims of a Mudokon revolution burning down RuptureFarms. Even when questioned by the leaders of Necrum Mines and Feeco Depot (who had suffered through slave revolts of their own), the Brewmaster held firm in his belief that Molluck was sabotaging the Brew. Molluck, overhearing this, ordered his Chauffuer to bribe Sligs into killing the Brewmaster, Morguer, and Asllik, decapitating the leadership Soulstorm Brewery. Abe and his revolution escape without being followed, unaware of what Molluck had unwittingly done for them.

Bad Ending[]

Brewery Explosion

In the Bad Ending, Abe accidentally sets the train on fire, which rams into Soulstorm Brewery, triggering a massive explosion due to the incendiary properties of the Brew. Since the Brewery is connected to the other facilities of Oddworld via pipeline of Brew, the explosion also caused the pipelines to explode, spreading the fire out to the rest of Mudos. Since the source of Brew was destroyed, all Mudokons who survived the fires would die of withdrawal anyway, leaving only the free Mudokons who had never drank the Brew alive.

Head Office[]

The head office of SoulStorm Brewery is Molluck, the same Glukkon CEO of RuptureFarms 1029. However, since the Mudokon insurrection of RuptutureFarms 1029 and Molluck's sudden disappearance, the Brewery is now entrusted to the far less capable Glukkon, the Brewmaster.

The Factory[]

SoulStorm Brewery

SoulStorm Brewery during the day.

The main building was divided into separate individual hubs which all led to different sectors of the Brewery:

  • Hub 1 - 5 Zulags
    1. Zulag 1 - Junior Executive Office # 1
    2. Zulag 2 - Flying Sligs sector # 1
    3. Zulag 3 - Industrial Machines sector
    4. Zulag 4 - Tear Gass sector
    5. Zulag 5 - Slog Warehouse sector # 1
  • Hub 2 - 5 Zulags
    1. Zulag 6 - Electrical Devices sector
    2. Zulag 7 - Blind Mudokon sector
    3. Zulag 8 - Slogs Warehouse sector # 2
    4. Zulag 9 - Junior Executive Office # 2
    5. Zulag 10 - Slig High Security Area / Brew deposits
  • Hub 3 - 4 Zulags
    1. Zulag 11 - Flying Sligs sector # 2
    2. Zulag 12 - Tear Extractors sector # 1
    3. Zulag 13 - Junior Executive Office # 3
    4. Zulag 14 - Tear Extractors sector # 2
  • Zulag 15 - Boiler Room
  • SoulStorm Kennels - Scrabs + Fleeches sector

The building contained the Tear Extractors sectors used to retrieve Mudokon tears for the brew. After the incident at RuptureFarms, the Brewery was fashioned with wide varieties of heavy ordinance security including armed Greeters, numerous security obstacles, as well as countless Slig and Slog lances all commanded by Junior Executives.

SoulStorm's Explosion[]

SoulStorm Destruction

The destruction of the brewery.

In the canonical Good Ending of Abe's Exoddus, the Brewery's Boiler Room is infiltrated by Abe and the factory is destroyed by a huge explosion due to massive boiler pressure. The Brewmaster was killed in the explosion and has never been mentioned since then.

In the Bad Ending, however, Abe is betrayed by his fellow Mudokon friends in the Boiler Room. After he wakes up, Abe is caught and put in a Tear Extractor machine. Finally, the Brewmaster and his Slig companion execute the Mudokon terrorist by activating the machine.

Aftermath[]

During the events of Munch's Oddysee, a Glukkon Chump attempts to continue the production of SoulStorm Brew by trying to turn a native Mudokon windmill into a microbrewery, turning the Mudokons in the area into Scrubs with false promises. Abe and Munch managed to halt the microbrewery plans, separating the Chump from his change by possessing him and making him donate it to the Lulu Fund.

Notes[]

  • SoulStorm Brewery served as the final locale in Abe's Exoddus.
  • In Abe's Exoddus, at the end of Zulag 11, the "EXIT NO RETURN" sign reads "EXIT ZULAG 14; NO RETURN" even though the status sign in the very same room is marked with "Zulag 11." The same is found in Zulag 13, where all early sections are labelled "Zulag 14." These could be errors on the developers' part, as they were corrected in the Japanese release Abe '99.
