Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Slig Barracks is the ninth level in Oddworld: Soulstorm and is the only level that takes place in the aforementioned Slig Barracks. Abe's goal is to reach the Comm Tower to shut it down and prevent the other Magog Cartel facilities from learning about the renegade train. In addition, Abe must find out what was on the tape that he found in Sorrow Valley at the very same Comm Tower. In the level, Abe must pass through Slig living quarters, firing ranges and the underground furnaces that power the facility.

Walkthrough[]

First things first, run right and find a Mudokon, go back left to find a portal and a piece of Royal Jelly. Go back right and enter the overlook tower.

Overlook Tower[]

Get any resources you want in the bins and lockers here, but I'd recommend looking for a single brew bottle. Activate that checkpoint and jump up to that platform to your right, avoiding the Slig's sight range. Use that brew bottle I mentioned earlier to distract the slig for long enough to hoist up past him. You can use the lockers in the next set of platforms to get more resources or to hide in, but I wouldn't say that's necessary. Create some audio distractions using collected items or a single hop to get the sligs to look away from where your climbing, hit the slig with something to daze them or use the double jump to risk going directly for the next platform up.

Eventually you'll find some working mudokons and vending machines. Exchange bottles and get yourself some rock candies while gathering followers. There's one follower on a higher platform next to a pressure pad. Get him to stay on the pad, then use a rock candy to destroy a glowing node to keep the slam-door open. I'd suggest crafting some Bouncy Candies now, and while you're there give your followers around 30 rock candies and take their water bottles.

Use your Bouncy Candy to take out the slig down below from a safe location. When you come across a pulley lift, I'd recommend taking out the slig below by rebounding a Bouncy Candy off the wall next to slig which should knock him off the platform. Your followers will take out the other slig as you use the pulley lift to descend. At the lowest platform you'll find a portal which you can use to save your followers.

Overlook[]

Say hi to the workers next to the door that you come out of, then go to the right and jump up to the platform.

Secret Area 1[]

Collect all the items you need for some smoke screens, and whatever else you think you will need.

To the left you need to make sure your followers are in aggressive stance. When crossing the bridge a number of sligs will fire at you, and there bullets are less accurate than the stunning bolts used against mudokons in passive stance. Plus, followers can take a couple of bullets, but the restraints put on by stunning bolts will force you to go back and untie them, which is more tedious and more risky as the sligs will always use bullets on Abe. Use smoke screens to hide your presence whenever you need to disarm a mine, but otherwise just run to the left. Given how far the sligs are from you, the chances they'll hit a moving target are low enough that just running is a viable strategy.
