Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Recycling Fans are devices found in Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, and work in a similar fashion to the meat grinders from Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee or bone saws in Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. When stepped near, it'll activate and suck the victim into its blades, leaving them no chance to be able to run away from it. A Crane can be used to drop enemies into it, allowing the area to be cleared. They are only found in Sloghut 1027, Sloghut 2813, and Labor Egg Storage.

Strategy[]

Using a crane to drop hostile creatures into suction range of the fan can be used to clear otherwise troublesome groups of enemies. In the Sloghuts, this can be the only practical way to make the initial room clearable. In Labour Egg Storage, while there are other options, this is the only reliable way to remove interns.

Development[]

Recycling Fan Wood

Recycling Fans are seen in the tech demos for both Munch's Oddysee and Hand of Odd. In these demos, you can see that they were originally meant to display the "ingredients" of the item. In a demo for Hand of Odd, specifically you can see Mudokon workers throwing chopped wood into a Recyling Fan, indicating that it would have been a resource collection building for the Land Grabber faction.
