Phatoline is one of the many items present in Oddworld: Soulstorm. It is found in specific locations within the Sorrow Valley levels and is needed to progress.
Overview[]
The Phatoline item appears as a Jerrycan filled with hydrocarbon liquid fuel. Phatolines are used to fuel Phatoline Generators which powers up the surrounding machinery.
Phatoline is found within the Sorrow Valley levels (The Funicular and Sorrow Valley), and is used to power mining machinery, mine shaft lighting and mine-carts. In normal progression, each generator has a corresponding can to be found within a mineshaft. However, if you return to replay the level after having obtained a silver key from later in the game, you can find Phatoline in lockers, which can be used to skip parts of the level.
Trivia[]
- Phatoline is a reference to real-world gasoline.
- It can be assumed that, just like gasoline, phatoline is abbreviated to phat. This implies that the Phat Station is a generic name that refers to any kind of fuelling station instead of the specific name of that particular station. This is supported by Alf calling it 'a Phat Station' instead of the Phat Station in the Ruins.
- Phatoline is one of several items that float, spin, and glow. This was done to increase visibility in dark areas and was introduced in the Enhanced Edition update.
