The Octigi Family
The Octigi Family is a biological family made up of numerous octopoid-like species native to Oddworld. The Octigi Family is the only confirmed Taxonomic rank ever mentioned in the Oddworld series with an official name.
Overview[]
The Octigi Family is a biological family made up of numerous species native to Oddworld. Despite the great variation in morphological characteristics among the members of the Octigi Family, they all seem to have bulbous (vaguely octopoid) heads, small, beady eyes, and disproportionate limbs. Even though the members of the Octigi Family are often likened to real-world Octopi, they are not invertebrates, seeing as all members of the Octigi Family possess rigid skulls and a visible skeletal structure.
In Oddworld society, the members of the Octigi Family act as industrialists, building sprawling cities and factories all while destabilizing native populations, controlling many natural resources, and destroying the environment. They often achieve their short-term goals (of amassing wealth and power) by controlling and actively exploiting other sapient races. The members of the Octigi typically act as venture financiers, CEOs and CFOs, globalist bankers, politicians, and dictators. Their status is maintained through the erection of various secret societies and guilds that exist to maintain wealth amongst ancient financial bloodlines. Some of the notable organizations ruled by the Octigi Family include institutions like the Uggae Estate and the Magog Cartel.
Notable Species[]
While it is unknown how many species truly make up the Octigi Family, three are known to currently exist on Oddworld.
Glukkons[]
The Glukkons are a race of vaguely humanoid creatures with large heads, glowing eyes, and scaly skin. Their bodies have adapted to a sedentary lifestyle, resulting in underdeveloped legs and reliance on their arms for movement. Despite their imposing appearance, Glukkons are physically weak and heavily dependent on other species for labor and basic tasks. They wear concealing suits to mask their physical limitations and project an image of power and authority. Glukkons often take the role of CEO's and CFO's, Businessmen, and entrepreneurs, ruling over the numerous factories and businesses all across the continent of Mudos. The female members of the Glukkon species look quite different from their male counterparts having large, slug-like bodies lined with rows of teats. Female Glukkons are capable of laying vast numbers of eggs, making them solely responsible for the lively hood of the Glukkon race. Notably the only female Glukkon currently known is Lady Margaret; matriarch and head of the Uggae Estate and the Magog Cartel.
Notable Glukkons[]
- Molluck (CEO of Rupture Farms)
- General Dripik (Head of Slig Barracks)
- Brewmaster (Inventor of Soulstorm Brew)
- Director Phleg (CEO of Bonewerkz)
- Aslik (Head of FeeCo Depot)
- Lulu (Famed GlockStar)
- Lady Margaret (Glukkon Queen)
- Morguer (Head of Necrum Mines)

Oktigi[]
The Oktigi are more squid-like member of the Octigi Family, having bulbous heads, four bony tentacle-like limbs, and glowing eyes. They appear to be naturally aquatic, but can survive on land with the aid of a host body. Oktigi are parasites; they create a host body by attaching themselves to their victim's head (essentially replacing it) and using the victim's body as their own. They seem to prefer the strongest host body possible. Like the Glukkons, the Oktigi are driven by self-interest and corporate greed while having a preference for fine business suits, expensive cigars, and exploiting the environment to the highest degree. Though only one is currently known, the Oktigi seem to have a sorted history with the native Steef and Grubbs of western Mudos; evident through various rock paintings in the Mongo Valley.
The only notable member of the Oktigi species is Mr. Sekto, owner of the Sekto Springs Dam and the "Big-Boss'' of the Mongo River.

Gloktigi[]
The Gloktigi are the some of the most mysterious members of the Octigi Family being large creatures with bulbous heads, small vestigial legs, and large clawed hands that they use to support their bodies. Even though they are members of the Octigi Family, Gloktigi are believed to be purely artificial, having been created as a result of Genetic augmentation and Alchemy. Gloktigi are named as such due to being the artificial hybrid offspring of Glukkons and Oktigi. Gloktigi are able to spit out a green, luminous globs of silk, before climbing onto their victim and impaling them with its large claws. Gloktigi can also enter a meta-physical form that allows them to quickly float through the air and even phase through walls. It is unknown how intelligent the Glocktigi truly are but what is known is their role as loyal protectors of Oddworlds industrialist elites.

Slig Relation Theory[]
It is believed that the Slig species is an uncategorized member of the Octigi family. When examining the anatomy of a Slig, ignoring mechanical augmentation (masks, pants, etc.), the Slig bears a undeniable resemblance to the Gloktigi. The Gloktigi has an enlarged cranium (which the Slig also possesses). However, the Slig's enlarged cranium acts as a tail or lower body. Both the Slig and Gloktigi have a single pair enlarged arms. However, the hands of the Gloktigi species consist of three long claws on each hand. The Slig's hands, on the other hand, consist of four stubby, pose-able fingers on each hand. The Slig and Gloktigi also appear to have the same tentacle-like mandible, which appear to be jointed in terms of the Sligs.

Maskless slig concept render by Hendrik Lober.
Sligs could be one of many unconfirmed members of the Oktigi family next to the Chroniclers. Chroniclers being a race of lawyers and accountants that are described as being "more-evolved'' Glukkons in notes found on concept art.
