Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD is the remastered version of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee developed by Just Add Water and Oddworld Inhabitants. Changes to the game include higher quality models and textures, new sound effects, trophies and more fluid controls.

The game was announced together with Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD in a tweet made by Just Add Water.[1] It was released on the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita on December 19, 2012 in Europe and on December 24, 2012 in the United States. On June 8, 2015 Oddworld Inhabitants announced that Munch's Oddysee HD would also make its way to mobile platforms and PC.[2] While the actual HD version never made it to mobile and PC, the original version of the game was eventually ported to mobile platforms, and the PC version received a significant update that included higher quality models.

On February 23rd, Limited Run Games released a physical version of Munch's Oddysee HD, as well as a collectors edition that includes printed artwork, the game's soundtrack and a themed soda can.[3]

Development[]

On March 9, 2012, a picture of Munch's Oddysee being played on a PS Vita was posted on the official Oddworld Inhabitants Facebook page.[4] The game was also intended for a released on the Xbox 360 but is currently labelled as Cancelled.[5]

Changes[]

  • The Gamespeak Controls now work more like those of Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus by holding down the L2 (which commands what was originally tapping) and R2 (which commands what was originally holding) Buttons. Without doing so, the Square Button is now it's own action button as opposed to pressing the Jump Button in the originally, the Triangle Button switches characters and the Circle Button checks health/spooce/quarma. Holding both L2 and R2 together now uses Abe to chant and Munch to use his Sonar.
  • The attack button is now the R1 Button and the sneak button is now the L1 Button.
  • All Models and sprites have been updated.
  • Some of the sound effects have been changed.
  • Abe and the Other Mudokons now have 4 Fingers on each hand, like how they originally appeared in Abe's Oddysee.
  • The SoBe Drink is replaced with a Health Up in all Regions of the game (though not on the Switch and PC version of the game.)
