Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Description[]

Ma'Spa is an important location somewhere in Mudos and not much is known about it other than that it was set to appear in Oddworld: Munch’s Exoddus. In Munch’s Exoddus, Ma'Spa would have been a place were the Gabbit, Munch, would have traveled to enable to safety hatch the Gabbit eggs he had previously acquired from the Vykker Labs Gabbiar auction. Very little is known about Ma'Spa, but what's known is that it's the birthplace of many Gabbits and the source of the Mongo River (a location that was inevitably repurposed for the game Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath).

Concept art depicting Ma'Spa and its surrounding environment depicts it as being a lush, green, landscape with flowing water and massive tree like roots. Mudokons that wear large conical hats can be seen and they seem to be the originators of many of the organic native structures that can be found throughout Ma'Spa. Even though Ma'Spa appears to be thriving, concept art shows that the industrialization of this once sacred place has already begun. Large industrial dams and water treatment facilities can be seen in the concept art, many of them being some of the largest structures ever depicted in Oddworld. These large industrial structures obstructing the waters of Ma'Spa would probably go on to inspire Sekto Springs Dam that we see in the later installment Stranger's Wrath.

Song Engine[]

One of these ancient native structures is one known as a Song Engine. The engine looks like a large, bipedal, and vaguely insectoid figure with its torso obscured giant bells and horns. The structure sits on the precipice of a waterfall and allows its rushing water to flow through it. The mystical energy gathered from flowing water allows the Song Engine to create powerful chimes that can welcome friends of the Mudokons and threaten potential enemies.
