Paramonia is a large forest once left untouched by industrialists on Oddworld. Paramonia is the sacred home of the Paramites and the extinct Mudomo tribe.
Background[]
Paramonia is a temperate forest located in the south of East Mudos. It is filled with conifer tree, mosses, ferns and a few fungi. The most notable fauna of Paramonia are the Paramites, who had adapted to its deep forests and dark caves to chase prey into ambushes, or trap them in giant webs. Other known fauna include Bees, Bats, and Elums.
Paramonia was the ancient dwelling place of a Mudokon tribe known as the Mudomo. For centuries, the Mudomo erected massive towers and constructed suspended walkways through the forests of Paramonia until they mysteriously vanished. However, their structures do not go unused. Monsiac monks still inhabit these lands, learning from the wilderness and assisting other travellers. At the heart of Mudomo culture lied the Paramonian Temple, which still stands today. The brave souls willing to gain the power of the Shrykull must endure the trials within, and will return with the Paramonian scar if they succeed.
Paramonia has become the target for many Magog industries. The main one is Rupture Farms, which has hunted the native Paramites to near extinction for the purposes of making tasty treats. Sligs use cage traps to hunt the beasts, setting up mines and chant suppressors to limit interference from the natives. In addition, Splinterz has gained an interest in harvesting the lush forest for their business.
Notes[]
- The environment of Paramonia bears a striking resemblance to the forest planet Endor from the Star Wars franchise. The structures in Paramonia are also reminiscent to the Ewok treetop villages.
- In New 'n' Tasty, native monks wear a wooden mask with six eye holes. This design was taken from an unused version of Big Face's mask.
