Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Mudokon Pops (known in its pre-advertising campaign as Something New 'n' Tasty) is the latest product to be produced by RuptureFarms. They were introduced as a counter-measure to combat the company's declining profits, which was caused by the falling sales of their flagship products and the extinction of many native species. Mudokon Pops consist of processed Mudokon meat presented on a stick, not unlike an ice-cream popsicle.

Design change[]

In the original version of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee the logo for the Mudokon Pop is a gruesome picture of a bloody Mudokon head impaled on a stick. Whether this was supposed to be the final product design or a sadistic mock-up beta design by Molluck is unknown, but the design was ultimately changed for public ads and packaging. When Abe first enters FeeCo Depot, an advertisement for Mudokon Pops is seen with the new design. The Mudokon Pops that can be found in Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD also carry the newer, friendlier design.

Development[]

From a game development perspective, the Mudokon Pop design was changed due to the Kobe child murders in Japan,[1] an event that transpired during the development of Abe's Oddysee in 1997. While the changed design was originally only present in the Japanese version of Abe's Oddysee, all Oddworld games released worldwide after Abe's Oddysee also use the friendlier design, including Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty.

Trivia[]

  • In Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD, several RuptureFarms barrels can be found along the Mongo River. If any of these barrels are broken open, Mudokon Pops are scattered across the ground, suggesting that the production on the tasty treat was launched at other RuptureFarms franchises after RuptureFarms 1029 was shut down. Destroying all 10 of these barrels grants the player the "Free the Meat" achievement.
  • Although Abe is the only known Mudokon with stitched lips, the Mudokon Pop logo also features stitched lips.
  • When Munch expresses surprise that Gabbit eggs are consumed as a delicacy, Abe retorts with: "You know what's in a Mudokon Pop?".
