Oddworld Wiki

Hi! Welcome to the Oddworld Fandom Wiki!

Recently OWI has began to publish posts on their Twitter citing articles from this site, along with content that heavily implies that the wiki is in some way official or sanctioned.

We'd like to dispel this rumor now: The Fandom Wiki is 100% community run and has in fact been long plagued by information of dubious validity, despite the valiant efforts of its editors (whose job we really appreciate, keep up the good fight!). For this reason, we'd like to ask our readers to take everything here with a great chunk of salt, especially when it comes to content without valid citations.

If you wish to fight against misinformation, you're encouraged to contribute high-quality content to the wiki—that is content that's propped up by a trusted source (examples include: Oddworld.com, Magog on the March, or The Oddworld Library) and contain no headcanons, theorizing, or any further content not directly coming from Oddworld Inhabitants.

Thank you for your attention and understanding! Happy reading and editing!

Birds are a species of avian that Mudokons are associated with. Races like Mudokons and Clakkerz are thought to be closely related to birds. Also, different species of birds can be seen throughout the Oddworld franchise.

Bird

Concept Art depicting a one-legged bird created between the release of titles Stranger's Wrath and Munch's Oddysee.

Throughout the Oddworld franchise many birds have been depicted. In Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee small white birds can be seen, often functioning as ambient creatures akin to Bats.

They typically rest in small groups on the ground and, upon being disturbed by Abe, will fly away. These birds are also seen whenever a Mudokon teleports. In Munch's Oddysee and New 'n' Tasty, birds are used to represent Abe and Munch's Health, of which when lost can be recovered by drinking a Health vendo, or by chanting near when they are out in the open. Finally, these small white birds are also used to represent a portal used for rescuing their allies in various titles throughout the Quintology.

In Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, not only can the silhouettes of vulture looking birds be seen, but small, white, seagull looking birds with round bodies and orange beaks can also be spotted in the forest located outside of New Yolk City.

The Buzzard was a bird-like creature meant to appear in Abe's Oddysee when Abe visited Scrabania, but was cut early on in the development process. It's also absent from New 'n' Tasty, although birds similar to real-life buzzards appear in a cutscene and as statues in Oddworld: Soulstorm.

In Oddworld: Soulstorm, giant bird statues can be found outside of Necrum and deep within the Sanctum, watching an unsuspecting Abe while he completes his quest.

Races like Mudokons and Clakkerz are thought to be descendants of birds. Both possessing feathers, and both being capable of laying eggs. While Mudokons appear to be more reptilian in appearance, having more lizard-like hands and feet while lacking beaks, Clakkerz bear a striking resemblance to Birds, having hard beaks, scaly feet, and feathery wings.
