This is an official line up for future Oddworld releases...
This was unveiled during the Oddworld Podcast
I just realized that Mudokons kind of resemble 'Dinosauroids' to me. For those who don't know, Dinosauroids are sentient bipedal theropod dinosaurs that were once suggested to exist if dinosaurs hadn't gone extinct. According to Oddworld Inhabitants Mudokons evolved from birds. Paleontologists believe that all modern birds are members of the clade Theropoda, which also contains therapod dinosaurs. In the book Oddworld: Abes Origins, Lorne Lanning describes in an interview that early on in his career he would illustrate extinct animals like marine reptiles and dinosaurs. Perhaps this experience in paleoart may have inspired Lorne to base the Mudokons partially on the dinosauroid concepts that were somewhat prevalent at the time.
Hello everyone!
It's been a long few years for Soulstorm's development, but at long last the release is only 2 weeks or so away. With that I expect (and kinda hope) a surge of traffic to the wiki as a brand new audience looks up information about the game. At the very least the release will provide an absolute ton of new information that needs to be added to the wiki, both in the form of lore, but also in the form of gameplay mechanics. The crafting system in particular will get some special dedication on the wiki, as that is possibly one of the things people will look for the most. I've been laying the foundation for all of this by adding new pages, but a lot of them still need to be checked for accuracy once the game releases, a ton of images need to be added, and a lot of content still needs to be written in the first place. So if you're looking for something to do, check out the pages that need attention, and don't shy away from contributing your own writing. Everyone can edit a wiki!
Incoming changes to Fandom
The Oddworld Wiki has its home on the Fandom platform (previously known as Wikia). This means that our wiki is part of a larger network, and that Fandom as a company has the final say over certain things like page layout, backend software and ad placement. This arrangement hasn't always been smooth sailing, but it needs to be said that, lately, Fandom is trying to work with its users in building a powerful and easy to use wiki platform.
Fandom recently merged with another wiki platform called Gamepedia, and both have since been in the process of merging the platforms together under the Fandom banner. The next step of this venture is a big update to the visual presentation of Fandom wikis, specifically for desktop users. More information about that can be found in this blog post.
What this means for the Oddworld Wiki is that we will be holding off on any planned graphical changes to our wiki until this change is fully rolled out. The new look is expected to be more modern, but will probably also throw a massive wrench in the works for any custom theming that the wiki currently has, so it would be a waste to invest time and effort into this any further. Once the changes are live, we can see about giving the new Fandom look a bit more of an Oddworld touch.
Because of this, and because a good portion of Fandom traffic comes from mobile sources that don't see the desktop themes anyway, the main focus on the wiki now is adding content. Writing accurate articles, filling out infoboxes and adding at least one image to every page.
As usual all help is greatly appreciated. I've had this wiki under my wing for a couple of years now, and while I don't intend to abandon it anytime soon, it is a lot of work for just one person. So if you want to help, please do! And if you're unsure what to do, feel free to ask me and I'm sure we can find something :).
Happy editing!

Hello,
Myname is Sid...
Or the Mudokon in the story i created is called Sid. Maybe you guys enoj this small lil audiobook i created and want me to continue sids journey =) Another Slig named "Dork" will be voiced in the next episode =)
Enjoy listening, looking forward to yall feedback.
You can stream and download it on soundcloud too =):
Instead of auctioning the Gabbiar, they could've forced Munch to incubate the eggs, so that they could have a "Gabbit Queen" and have both more Gabbiar production and more lung transplants. But instead, in the bad ending, the one who won the auction (presumably Tex), ate the Gabbiar (He probably didn't care about other Glukkons either). Or maybe it's just that Glukkons and Vykkers enjoy bringing other species to extinction and all the Glukkons will just quit smoking after the extinction of the Gabbits.
Hello there! The name's Yukon Smith and I am rather in a pickle at the moment. If someone could tell me how to add an image to an infobox for a character, that would be very much appreciated! I thank you for your time and consideration, my fellow wiki members.
In order to get the Gabbiar, Abe possesses Lulu to bid. I'm curious about how no one suspected anything when, after winning, Lulu screams "NOOOOOOOOOOO". I mean, do you think it makes sense that, in an auction, the winner later dreads having to pay the price? And, if the people there watch the news, they should know that there's a mudokon called Abe with the ability to possess glukkons and sligs.
I started poking around in my AE save files. Just writing down what I found so far. I want to make this into an article eventually. If you want to help, just crack open a save file with a hex editor and change some values around.
From what I've seen so far, all values are 2 bytes long and in little endian byte-order.
Offset | Description |
---|---|
0x0208 | current level |
0x020A | current path |
0x020C | current room |
The pause menu displays an alphanumeric string that corresponds to these (e.g. BWP01C04). This is also the default name for a new save file. The first two characters are the level. Then "P" for "path" followed by two digits for the path number. Then "C" for something ("camera", maybe?) followed by two digits for the room number.
Valid values for current level are:
Value | Level | Pause menu abbreviation |
---|---|---|
1 | Necrum Mines | MI |
2 | Necrum | NE |
3 | Mudomo Vaults | PV (presumably "Paramite Vaults") |
4 | Mudanchee Vaults | SV (presumably "Scrab Vaults") |
5 | Feeco Depot | FD |
6 | Slig Barracks | BA |
7 | n/a (crashes the game) | |
8 | BoneWerkz | BW |
9 | Soulstorm Brewery | BR |
10 | Final exit | BM |
Some other values are also valid, but they are duplicates of existing levels and I'm not sure why they're used. Possibly for levels that are revisited?
Useful links:
Since the art book is just collected images of different games, I assumed I should omit references to it under the "appearances" section, but I've been wrong before. So, is there a precedence for this?
Also, should I list "Stranger's Wrath" and "Stranger's Wrath HD" as separate appearances?
I want to know how I can possess Scrabs in Abe's Oddysee
Many of the redlinks in the Wanted Links page are only referenced by usertalk pages - can these links be cleared out to shorten the Wanted page to just the pages that actually need to be made?
More new stuff, it just doesn't end!
Navboxes have been missing from this wiki ever since it was started. They are navigational templates that are placed at the bottom of a page, linking every page in a certain category or group for ease of access. There was an old navbox template that was used for one category, but it needed serious work. So introducing: Template:Navbox! This is a very complex template that even I won't pretend to understand, but it does what it needs to do. There is (limited) documentation available for anyone who needs to make a new navbox from scratch for some reason. Also the colors are up for debate, I was never a great color matcher :P
I have made a couple of new navbox templates to start things off, but they all still need to be filled out and that is where a lot of help is needed. You can simply visit the template and add whatever entries are missing. If the code is too complicated for you, feel free to ask in this thread. With the exception of level related navboxes, all entries should be in alphabetical order.
Filling in and making all these templates is a lot of work, so any and all help with this project is appreciated. Together we can make the Oddworld Wiki great again :D
Template:Navbox levels AO - The actual level pages are in the process of being renamed, don't mind the red links.
Template:Navbox levels AE - List of levels Abe's Exoddus in order of appearance.
Template:Navbox levels MO - List of levels in Munch's Oddysee in order of appearance.
Template:Navbox levels NnT - List of levels in New 'n' Tasty in order of appearance.
Template:Navbox species - List of all known Oddworld species (including cut content) in alphabetical order, divided into Native, Industrial and Wildlife.
Template:Navbox OWI - List of articles related to Oddworld Inhabitants. Studios, games, books, people, etc.
Template:Navbox characters - All named characters in the Oddworld series should be entered.
Template:Navbox locations - All major locations (no sections, zulags, etc) on Oddworld should be entered.
The following navboxes haven't been created yet. If you wish to create them, copy one of the other templates to the new one and alter them appropriately, or read the documentation.
Template:Navbox items - List of items in Oddworld games (see the list on the main page).
There currently isn't a guide for Stranger's Wrath on this wiki, hence no navbox for that game.
The welcome message new users receive when they first make an edit on the wiki has been updated to a fancy new box full of useful information. Example below.
One important thing to note is that the actual page the user edited is not included in the message. This was done on purpose, as I noticed a slight problem while browsing the Wanted Pages list. In the past a lot of new users would come on to the wiki and created new page (either because it was already listed as wanted, or because they thought it was needed). On their welcome message it would include a link to that particular page. However, if that page is later deleted for whatever reason the link in their welcome message still exists and turns red. Someone else sees the wanted page and creates it again, and so the loop continues. So to fix that little problem at the source, the page a new user edited is no longer mentioned in their welcome message.
The remaining red links on user pages will be removed over time to keep the Wanted Pages list as accurate as possible. Help in this area is always appreciated.
Greetings and welcome to the Oddworld Wiki! We appreciate your contributions, and we hope you will make more! Before you do, however, please make sure you have read our editing guidelines.

Hello dear Oddworld Wiki users and editors!
A somewhat small but meaningful change to the wiki today; comments on articles have been disabled and replaced with the traditional Wiki talk pages. Since the announcement of Oddworld: Soulstorm the commenting system has had a chance to show its true colors, which resulted in the Soulstorm article receiving a lot of comments from people excited for the game. Of course it's great that people want to show how excited they are for the new game, but wiki articles are not meant as discussion platforms. They are, by very definition, meant to be a repository of information for everyone to read and edit. Blog style commenting at the bottom of the page does not contribute anything meaningful to this process, especially since the content someone might have commented on years ago may not even exist anymore.
The talk pages serve as a place where editors can come togethers to discuss certain issues with an article, and how to solve them. This is something the comment system just isn't designed for, especially when it gets clogged with a long list of random comments or even spam messages.
Of course, you may still express your excitement for Oddworld on this wiki if you wish. This forum may be used to post whatever you wish, but there is also a much more established forum available to discuss Oddworld related things. The unofficial Oddworld forums are linked at the top of this forum and anyone who wishes to discuss Oddworld with other fans will find more people to talk to there. The wiki, as it stands, is fairly inactive when it comes to social interaction.
So in short, the wiki has slowly but surely been going back to the core function of what a wiki is supposed to be. Comments are out, talk pages are in. And hopefully they will better help the editors of this wiki to communicate problems with one another.
Happy editing! And don't forget to sign your edits when using the talk pages ;)

This forum is primarily meant for discussions regarding the Wikia and its content. Indepth discussions about anything Oddworld related are allowed, but you will find a much larger and more active community at the unofficial Oddworld Forums (http://www.oddworldforums.net).
There's a page on blind mudokons, but none of the others. Is it alright if I make those pages?
I’d like to start a discussion to help decide the best way to approach cutscenes and transcripts for cutscenes.
http://oddworld.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Cutscenes
http://oddworld.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Transcripts
Currently both of these categories are incomplete (SW cutscenes are definitely missing, and not every page contains a relevant video file), and many of the pages also are poorly formatted or have incorrect information.
I feel that there’s also a duplication issue here – the transcript pages are transcripts for cutscenes, but the cutscene pages also contain transcripts.
I would like to propose the following:
